Tea Garden Work Hours Rescheduled in Assam Amid Heatwave

Assam’s Labour Welfare Department has revised tea garden work hours from 8 am–4 pm to 6 am–2 pm due to extreme heat. Most estates had already shifted timings to protect workers from heatstroke. Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha directed early reporting and monitoring of conditions to avoid prolonged sun exposure. Medical teams and ambulances are on alert as some workers reported health issues.
