Teak Trees Seized Near Assam-Meghalaya Border Amid Allegations of Inaction

The Hahim Forest Beat Office seized around 10 pieces of teak trees from the Gorukata area, near the Assam-Meghalaya border, on Saturday. Local residents alleged that the forest office delayed action despite receiving information on Friday. The seizure occurred after media intervention led DFO Dimpy Bora to direct the Singra Forest Range staff to take immediate action. There are conflicting claims about whether the area falls under forest jurisdiction, but the market value of the seized teak is estimated at ₹2 lakhs.
