Tezpur University Criticized for Ignoring Assamese Books Despite Budget Allocation

The Tezpur University Teachers’ Association alleged that no Assamese books were purchased in the last two years, despite funds being allocated. Of ₹571.97 lakh approved for books and journals in 2024–25, ₹455.60 lakh was spent, but none on Assamese titles. The Association said ₹2.91 lakh was sanctioned for 146 Assamese books, yet none were procured, calling it a serious neglect of regional language and culture.
