Tezpur University Registrar Resigns Amid Corruption Probe Against Vice-Chancellor

Tezpur University Registrar-in-Charge Pritam Deb resigned amid an ongoing Union Education Ministry probe into alleged corruption involving Vice-Chancellor Shambhunath Singh.

A three-member central committee is investigating irregularities in a ₹10-crore DST-funded project. Deb reportedly refused to share records, triggering protests on campus. Facing mounting pressure, he stepped down, later admitting to following “unethical directives” under duress.

Several senior officials have previously resigned, citing misconduct by the Vice-Chancellor. The probe remains ongoing.
