The chief minister of Assam begins handing out ration cards to new recipients.
At a ceremony conducted in the Boripara district of Maligaon on Tuesday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the ceremonial distribution of ration cards to 42,85,745 new beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act.
Speaking at the function, the chief minister said that the state’s NFSA has added over 40 lakh new beneficiaries, marking a significant step forward in the present administration’s goal of ensuring food security for all citizens. The Chief Minister stated that ration card distribution for NFSA beneficiaries living in the Jalukbari constituency was the purpose of the event held in Maligaon. He added that similar events were held in the districts on Tuesday to begin the distribution of ration cards throughout the state.
