Thirteen Arrested in Assam for Torturing Elderly Women Accused of Witchcraft

Thirteen villagers in Goalpara district, Assam, were arrested for torturing two elderly women accused of practicing witchcraft. The incident occurred in Lakhipur Krushnapur on August 20, following claims by a local priest that the women were responsible for the prolonged illness of two children. The victims were brutally tortured and forced to eat the children’s feces. The police, led by SP Nabaneet Mahanta, arrested the suspects involved in this horrific act.
