Three Dibrugarh Youths Drown During Bol Bam Pilgrimage

Three youths from Dibrugarh drowned in the Saikhowa nallah (Bandor Khal), a channel of the Brahmaputra, at Saikhowa under Dhola police station in Tinsukia district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Bishal Shah, Raj Shah and Pankaj Gupta, all residents of Amolapatty, Dibrugarh.
The three had reportedly walked around 45 km to collect holy water for offering to Lord Shiva when they entered the Kaliapani stretch to bathe and fetch water. They were swept away by a strong current and later rescued by locals and an SDRF team, but doctors at Dangori CHC declared them dead. Their bodies were sent to Tinsukia Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
