Census 2027 House Listing Begins Across Assam

As many as 11,64,586 households in Assam completed self-enumeration for Census 2027 before the August 16 deadline. The Houselisting and Housing Census phase began on August 17 across 33 districts and will continue until September 15, with around 77,000 trained enumerators visiting households. Cachar, Sribhumi and Kokrajhar recorded the highest participation in the self-enumeration phase.

Director of Census Operations, Assam, Biswajit Pegu, urged residents to cooperate with census personnel and assured that the principles of “No Omission, No Duplication” and confidentiality would be strictly maintained. Households that completed self-enumeration will need to provide their SE ID for verification, while those who did not participate online will be covered during the door-to-door exercise. The Houselisting exercise will be conducted later in flood-affected Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
