Traffic Advisory Issued Amid Flooding in Kaziranga National Park to Protect Wildlife
The continuous downpour in Assam has prompted the Superintendent of Police in Golaghat to issue a traffic advisory to ensure wildlife safety in Kaziranga National Park. The new rules, effective from July 1, 2024, are:
Commercial vehicles are banned from traveling through Kaziranga National Park.
Private vehicles can move at regulated speeds during the daytime.
Only local private vehicles are allowed during night hours.
Commercial vehicles will be diverted at Numaligarh Tiniali, Bagori border, and Bokakhat Town.
Police officers at Numaligarh Tiniali will redirect commercial vehicles towards Karbi Anglong.
Commercial trucks heading to Bokakhat Town are permitted from Numaligarh Tiniali.
The Bokakhat Police will halt all commercial vehicles heading towards Kohora.
The Kohora outpost will stop all commercial vehicles from the Bagori side.
Additionally, due to rising water levels of the Brahmaputra and Dhansiri Rivers, a special ban has been imposed on heavy and private vehicles (except local ones) on National Highway 715 to facilitate wildlife movement.
