Tragedy Strikes Assam Police Convoy: Bus Crash on National Highway 27 Leaves 25 Officers Injured

A tragic incident occurred on National Highway 27, as an Assam Police transport bus (license plate AS 01 GC 1277) carrying officers from Assam Police Battalion 5 (APBN) crashed on its way from Lumding to Lanka. The officers, returning from duty at the assembly session in Guwahati, faced the accident, leaving 25 of them injured. Immediate rescue efforts were initiated, with the injured taken to Lumding Civil Hospital for initial treatment, while seven critically injured officers were transferred to Diphu Medical College. The gravity of the situation is heightened by the possibility of 35 passengers on the bus. Complicating matters, the bus driver disappeared after the crash, intensifying the search for him. Hojai district police authorities swiftly responded, addressing the aftermath and supporting the injured and their families. The incident prompts reflection on road safety, the role of drivers, and the need to prioritize the well-being of those risking their lives in service.
