Tragic Death of Infant at Jorhat Medical College Sparks Outrage and Inquiry

The death of an infant at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) created a tragic and distressing atmosphere. The little girl, who was due to turn a year old tomorrow, was scheduled to be released from the hospital on Wednesday, and her parents planned to celebrate her birthday. Instead, they received her dead body.

The girl was admitted and undergoing treatment for a fever. Her parents claimed she was in normal condition and playing with her grandfather until a nurse administered an injection, after which the baby fainted and died. The incident sent shockwaves across the area.

Dr. Manav Jyoti Gohain, principal of JMCH, has announced a probe into the incident. A preliminary inquiry has also been initiated by the district administration and police. Following the baby’s death, a group of people broke window glasses in the children’s ward, causing extensive damage.
