Tragic Hit-and-Run in Jorhat: 13-Year-Old Girl Killed

A speeding dumper (AS09 C 6720) ran over a 13-year-old girl in Jorhat on Monday. The dumper, carrying sand, was driving through a service lane at high speed when it hit the girl. Residents criticized the police for not preventing large vehicles from using the service lane. Jorhat’s District Commissioner, Pulak Kumar Mahanta, announced the immediate cancellation of the dumper’s license and permit and promised strict action against the driver and other large vehicles violating the lane restrictions. This incident follows a similar one where a stone-laden dumper injured two women on a scooter.
