Tragic Human-Elephant Conflict Claims Life in Nagaon

In yet another incident of human-elephant conflict, a 50-year-old man named Bepari Teron was killed by a wild elephant in the Dapanibari-Mohkhuli area, Amsoi, under the Dharamtul Forest Range Office in Nagaon early on Saturday. The locals reported that Teron died on the spot when the elephant grabbed him with its trunk and threw him to the ground.

Upon receiving the information, police and forest personnel arrived at the scene and transported the body to Morigaon Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The Forest Department has promised immediate interim compensation to Teron’s family and has increased patrolling to prevent further incidents.

This tragic event follows another fatal encounter on June 1, when a teenage boy was trampled by a herd of wild elephants near Kathitaloi in Nagaon. The boy, originally from Morigaon district, resided at the Water Fly Orphan’s shelter home in Rangalu.
