Truck Narrowly Escapes Major Landslide near Sonapur, Traffic Halts

A truck and its occupants narrowly escaped a major landslide near Sonapur on the Meghalaya side of the Barak-Guwahati connecting national highway. The incident, close to the Sonapur tunnel, occurred when a massive tree and debris from the hills crashed down onto the route, severely damaging the vehicle. Fortunately, both the driver and co-pilot survived. However, the landslide has halted traffic on the highway, leading to a long queue of vehicles awaiting clearance. Authorities have initiated clearing operations, but full resumption of transport operations is expected to take some time.
