Trump Raises Global Tariff to 15% After Supreme Court Ruling

US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced an increase in the global tariff from 10% to 15%, calling it the “fully allowed and legally tested” level. In a Truth Social post, Trump said new tariffs would be determined in the coming months to continue his “America First” trade policy.
The move follows a US Supreme Court ruling that struck down most of Trump’s earlier tariff measures imposed under the IEEPA Act. Trump termed the verdict a “terrible decision” and invoked Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 to impose temporary global tariffs.
A White House official said the tariff will apply to all countries, including India, until further authority is invoked. The Indian government said it is studying the implications of the ruling and the new US measures.
