Two Arrested for Cattle Smuggling in Guwahati, Police Intensify Crackdown

West Guwahati Police arrested two men, Saminur Islam and Hashmat Ali, for smuggling seven cattle in Jalukbari. Legal action has been initiated. Despite occasional raids, cattle smuggling from Assam to Bangladesh via Meghalaya remains rampant. Smugglers use NEC Road and pay syndicates ₹25,000 per vehicle. The cattle endure cruel transport conditions before reaching their final destinations. Authorities have pledged stricter action against illegal smuggling networks.
