Two Arrested in Tinsukia for Alleged Rape of Minor, Sparking Protests

A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Tinsukia, Assam, on May 28, triggering public outrage and protests. On Sunday, locals apprehended the main accused, Raja Karmakar (26), who was handed over to police. Based on his confession, Shyam Murari (25) was also arrested. Both are in custody at Tinsukia Sadar Police Station, facing charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and POCSO Act. The investigation continues.
