Two killed and nine injured in a land dispute in Darrang

Two people were killed on the spot, including a woman, and nine others were injured in a clash between two groups over a land dispute at Kharupetia in Assam’s Darrang district on Tuesday, according to police.

Jaher Ali alias Ghare and his sister-in-law Mabia Khatun have been identified as the victims. The injured people were taken to a nearby hospital.

According to police, eight people have been arrested in connection with the incident. “The clash was sparked by a simple argument between the two groups, all of whom are related.” For a long time, there was animosity over the land, which culminated in a clash,” said a police officer.
