Two Rescued Rhino Calves Released into Kaziranga National Park

Two male one-horned rhinoceros calves, Chandra and Kanai, were released into Kaziranga National Park after spending four to five years at a wildlife rehabilitation centre. Both had lost their mothers during floods in 2020 and 2021 and were rescued as year-old calves.
Forest officials said the rhinos were transported in special crates and released at a secure, confidential location. After receiving long-term medical care and nurturing, the calves are now fit to survive independently in the wild. Authorities will monitor their behaviour post-release to ensure successful adaptation.
