Union Budget 2025: New Urea Plant Announced for Assam

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a 12.7 lakh metric ton urea plant at BVFCL Namrup in the Union Budget 2025 to boost Assam’s agriculture sector. The budget also includes initiatives for crop diversification, irrigation, and farmer income.

The announcement led to a 4% surge in fertilizer stocks, with companies like Madras Fertilizers, Paradeep Phosphates, FACT, and RCF posting gains.

This follows previous plans to expand BVFCL with Rs 500 crore for two Nano Urea Plants, aiming to modernize production and support economic growth in the region.
