Union Home Secretary Reviews NE Boundary Disputes and Militant Accord Progress
The Central Government is focused on resolving boundary disputes in the North East, and Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan reviewed talks between Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday. Meeting with the states’ Chief Secretaries, Mohan emphasized swift implementation of agreed points and resolution of remaining disputed areas. If necessary, the Survey of India may assist in the process.
Mohan also reviewed peace accord implementations with militant groups, including ULFA, NDFB, DNLA, and Adivasi outfits. Out of 9,022 militants to be rehabilitated, 678 NDFB members remain. Most have received grants and skill training. Over 300 non-heinous cases have been withdrawn, with heinous cases under review.
