UPSC Chairperson Resigns Amid IAS Officer Controversy

Amid the controversy surrounding probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar for allegedly faking her identity to unlawfully attempt the civil services exam, UPSC Chairperson Dr. Manoj Soni has resigned. His tenure was set to end in 2029, but he cited “personal reasons” for stepping down almost five years early. Dr. Soni, a UPSC member since 2017, had been the chairperson since May 16, 2023. His resignation was submitted to the president about a month ago, according to media reports.
