US Takes 60 Days to Assess Russia Sanctions and Tariff Impact on India

New Delhi: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said President Donald Trump wants 60 days to assess the economic impact of imposing sanctions on Russia and tariffs on countries purchasing Russian energy, including India. Rubio acknowledged that it would be difficult for India to shift away from Russian oil immediately, stressing the importance of the India-US partnership and global energy market stability.

Trump has temporarily waived the proposed penalties, citing national interest. India has maintained that ensuring energy security for its 1.4 billion people remains a priority and that it will continue diversifying its energy sources based on market conditions.
