VDP Secretary Arrested for Fraudulent Collection of Money in Darrang

In Darrang, a VDP (Village Defense Party) secretary, Musaraf Ali, was arrested by the police for deceiving suspected money lenders. Ali allegedly collected Rs. 1 lakh from two individuals, Jillol Haque and Hilaluddin, under false pretenses of protecting them from police action. He claimed to act on behalf of the Darrang Superintendent of Police. The case was filed based on an FIR by Nur Islam. Darrang SP Prakash Sonowal confirmed Ali’s arrest and his remand to judicial custody.
