Wealth Disparities Emerge Among Candidates in Assam’s Lok Sabha Elections

In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Assam, 15 out of 35 candidates are ‘crorepatis’, with independent candidate Diluwara Begum Chowdhury leading in assets, valued at over Rs 17.58 crore. Among the parties, AAP candidates have the highest average assets at Rs six crore, followed by BJP and Congress. Notable candidates include BJP’s Ranjit Dutta and Congress’ Uday Shankar Hazarika. However, some candidates, like Pallab Pegu of SUCI(C), have minimal assets, highlighting disparities in wealth among contenders.
