Wild Elephant Electrocuted in Assam, Negligence Alleged

A wild elephant in Madhupur Paroliguri, Dibrugarh district, died after contacting an 11,000-volt power line. Locals blame the electricity department for ignoring complaints about the hazardously suspended line over paddy fields for over two years.

Divisional Forest Officer BV Sandeep confirmed the incident occurred in a forest area frequented by elephants. He criticized the activation of high-voltage cables in such a sensitive zone.

Environmental groups and residents demand immediate repairs, accountability for officials, and increased awareness to prevent future tragedies.
