Wild Elephants in Assam Seek Shelter Near Human Habitats Amid Rising Floodwaters

A herd of wild elephants was seen crossing Nimatighat in Assam’s Jorhat district, taking shelter in Kohua Chapori near the Brahmaputra River. With continuous heavy rainfall, the river’s water level is rising, prompting the elephants to move towards residential areas, causing panic among locals. The elephants are believed to be facing a food shortage due to the flooding, leading them to venture closer to human settlements. Forest officials have arrived at the scene to manage the situation.
