Woman Dies During IVF Treatment in Guwahati, Family Alleges Medical Negligence

Guwahati: A woman undergoing IVF treatment at a private fertility centre in Lachit Nagar died after her health reportedly deteriorated. The deceased, identified as Liza Phukan Koch of Rahmaria in Chabua, had been receiving treatment at Indira IVF Centre since May under Dr Dibyajyoti Goswami.

According to her family, Liza developed vomiting and diarrhoea after taking prescribed medication on September 19, and her condition worsened overnight. She was later taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared her dead. The family alleged inadequate medical attention, raised concerns over treatment costs and test reports, and lodged a complaint at Panbazar Police Station. The allegations have not been independently established, and an investigation is expected to determine the circumstances of her death.
