Work Begins on Deepor Beel Elevated Railway Corridor

Guwahati: Construction of the ₹536-crore elevated railway corridor through the Deepor Beel area has commenced, with the Northeast Frontier Railway aiming to complete the project by March 2028.

The 4.7-km elevated viaduct is being built to reduce train-elephant collisions in the wildlife corridor. Railway officials said site clearance and preliminary works are underway, and the project is being executed in coordination with forest authorities to minimise environmental impact. Once completed, the corridor will improve train safety and remove the existing 30 kmph speed restriction on the route.
