Assam Focuses on Wetland Restoration for Flood Management

Guwahati: The Assam government has adopted a long-term and eco-friendly approach to flood management by focusing on ecological restoration and basin-level coordination.

Under the initiative, 15 wetlands across nine districts have been identified for rejuvenation. The project aims to improve floodwater retention, enhance groundwater recharge, and support biodiversity while reducing flood risks.
