Youth Drowns While Rescuing Friend in Assam’s Baksa District

A tragic incident unfolded on Saturday in Khusrabari village, Baksa district, Assam, where a 26-year-old man named Manzil lost his life while trying to rescue a friend from drowning in the Palla river. Manzil and seven friends were bathing in the river when one of them began to drown. Despite not knowing how to swim, Manzil heroically jumped in to save his friend.

While he successfully saved his friend, Manzil himself went missing. Local police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel initiated a search but had to suspend the operation due to darkness. On Sunday morning, the SDRF team recovered Manzil’s body.
