Zubeen Garg’s Final Film Sparks Revival of Assam’s Single-Screen Theatres

Ahead of the release of Zubeen Garg’s last film Roi Roi Binale, Assam is witnessing a revival of its once-defunct single-screen theatres. Jagiroad’s Ganesh Talkies, closed for seven years, is being renovated by fans to reopen in honour of the late icon. In Nalbari’s Tihu, the historic Mahatma Gandhi Bhawan has been renovated at a cost of about Rs 1.5 crore and will reopen with the same film. Fans and officials say the revival reflects Garg’s cultural impact and growing emotional support for Assamese cinema.
