12-Hour Bandh Called by Moran and Motok Students’ Unions in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia
The Moran and Motok Students’ Unions have called for a 12-hour bandh in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia on Monday, demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for six communities, including Moran, Motok, and Adivasi/Tea tribes. Protesters, led by Akash Moran, President of the Moran Students’ Union (Digboi branch), have urged public cooperation. On Sunday, effigies of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were burned, criticizing the government for neglecting the issue. Further protests are planned if the demands remain unmet.
