1,709 crore push to Assam methanol plant

PM Narandra Modi will give a major impetus to industrialisation in the state by inaugurating Assam Petro-Chemicals Limited’s 500 TPD methanol plant, which is a joint venture by the Assam government and Oil India Limited (OIL) at Namrup.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said this has been a major investment by the state government in the public sector after investing in Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in last one decade. In the last three to four years, the state government’s stake has been enhanced to 26% in NRL.

Modi will virtually inaugurate the plant located Naharkatia constituency virtually on April 14. The project has been completed at a cost of Rs 1,709 crore.
