2 Dead in Tragic accident in a brick kiln in Kalain area Cachar

In a tragic incident 2/3 people died on the spot and many others are in critical condition in an accident that took place in the Lakhipur region of the Cachar district of Assam.

According to reports, the chimney of a brick kiln collapsed while it was still active. Two people died and several more have been injured when the bystanders were trapped in the rumble in this accident. The brick kiln is said to belong to the SABI brand.

Local people mentioned that the chimney and the kiln itself are old. An event was going on next to the chimney as the fire was about to be lit to bake the bricks. Apart from the workers, family members of the owner, whose details were not revealed by the police, were also present at the location. The chimney cracked soon after the heat started to rise.

Police said that the kiln was located in the Kalain area of the district, some 30 km away from the district headquarters of Silchar.
