31 Endangered Channa Barca Fish Seized in Guwahati Railway Station Raid

A joint operation by the Government Railway Police and Assam Forest Department led to the recovery of 31 live Channa Barca fish at Guwahati Railway Station. This endangered species, found in the Brahmaputra basin, is highly valued in the international ornamental fish market. The Channa Barca is protected under The Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. Authorities suspect the fish were sourced from Kaziranga National Park, where poaching remains a concern.
