Fire Station Official Caught in Bribery Sting Operation

Officials from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption in Assam’s Cachar district apprehended Basanta Sinha, a Sub Officer at Dholai Fire and Emergency Service Station, under bribery charges. Sinha allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs. 25,000 for issuing a Fire Safety NOC. The anti-corruption cell acted on a complaint, setting a trap at the residence of Sinha’s colleague. Sinha was caught red-handed accepting Rs. 8,000 of the demanded amount.
