Barpeta District Issues Yellow Alert and Suspends Activities Due to Cyclonic Storm ‘Remal’
In anticipation of heavy rainfall and strong winds from cyclonic storm ‘Remal,’ the Barpeta district administration issued a new order on May 28. A yellow alert has been declared, with several precautionary measures.
All departmental and private boat operations, including ferries, will be suspended on May 29, 2024, with emergency services exempted. Fishing activities in the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries are also prohibited. Additionally, the order advises against swimming in rivers or water bodies, ploughing agricultural fields, and cattle grazing on the specified date.
