Teacher Coerces Student to Watch Pornography: Outrage and Manhunt Ensue

In Karimganj, Assam, a government school teacher at Sonakhira Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar School allegedly coerced a girl student into watching pornography in the classroom. The incident occurred on August 12 in the Patharkandi constituency. The accused, Zahir Uddin, is currently on the run. The victim initially hesitated to inform her family but later confided in her mother, revealing that the teacher had forced her to watch inappropriate content and had also touched her inappropriately.

Karimganj Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das stated that a case has been registered against the teacher under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Outraged villagers from nearby areas set the school on fire and blocked National Highway 208, demanding the teacher’s immediate arrest. Senior police officials rushed to the scene to restore order, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the accused. The police have also registered a case against the miscreants involved in the vandalism and arson.
