Ripun Bora Resigns as Assam AITC President, Cites West Bengal-Centric Image

Former Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora resigned as Assam AITC president on Sunday, citing the party’s perceived West Bengal-centric focus as the reason for his departure. In his resignation letter to AITC General Secretary Abhisekh Banerjee, Bora expressed frustration over the party’s failure to expand its appeal in Assam despite his repeated suggestions.

Bora highlighted the disconnect between AITC’s national ambitions and its regional image, noting that his proposals to promote Assamese leaders and recognize Assam’s cultural heritage were ignored. He joined TMC in April 2022 but has not yet revealed plans to join another political party.
