Nalbari Farmers Boost Profits with Innovative Cucumber Cultivation
Farmers in Nalbari district are reaping benefits from innovative cucumber farming methods introduced by the Nalbari Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK). By using nylon nets and mulching instead of traditional bamboo structures, farmers have reduced costs and increased production.
Farmers like Pankaj Kalita and Dhrubajyoti Kalita are now earning significant profits, with some expecting over Rs one lakh per bigha. Cucumber is cultivated year-round in the district, with crops yielding fruits in just 45 days, allowing for multiple harvests. The high market demand has made cucumber cultivation a lucrative option for local farmers.
