Anganwadi Workers Protest for Salary Hike in Assam
Anganwadi workers, helpers, and mini workers staged a protest at the Directorate of Women and Child Development in Uzanbazar, demanding an increase in their monthly remuneration. Organized by the Anganwadi Workers’ and Helpers’ Association, Assam, the protest follows a similar one held earlier this year. The workers claim the state government has not raised their salaries in seven years, with current pay at Rs 6,500 for workers, Rs 3,250 for helpers, and Rs 4,750 for mini workers. They demand an increase to Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000, and Rs 7,000, respectively.
