Assam Rabies Elimination Project Launched in Guwahati

Mission Rabies, in collaboration with JBF and supported by Assam’s Animal Husbandry Department and GMC, launched the Assam Rabies Elimination Project. Inaugurated by GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania, the initiative aims to vaccinate 70% of Guwahati’s dog population, enhance rabies surveillance, and raise awareness. A rabies hotline (9706049585) was introduced for reporting cases. The project will also establish three model districts for rabies control. Aligned with the global Zero Rabies by 2030 mission, it seeks to make Assam a leader in rabies elimination in Northeast India.
