Teen Drowns in Kalahi River; Locals Blame Sand Mining
Suman Shekhar Talukdar (14), from Pashim Gadhuli in Chhaygaon, drowned in the Kalahi River around 4 PM on Friday while bathing with friends. He accidentally stepped into a deep pit created by illegal sand mining. Despite rescue attempts, he could not be saved. Locals allege such pits have turned the river into a death trap, causing multiple drowning incidents. They demand strict action against illegal sand miners and better safety measures.
