Jorhat Hits Record June Heat Amid Dry Spell in Assam

Jorhat recorded its highest-ever June temperature at 37.6°C, breaking the 1961 record of 37.3°C. Other towns also faced intense heat: Dibrugarh (37.7°C), North Lakhimpur (38°C), Tezpur (37.5°C), and Guwahati (37.3°C), all significantly above normal. The heat is due to a dry spell following early monsoon onset. Rain is expected from June 13. Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has asked districts to adjust school timings in response.
