Skeleton Found in Amguri’s Japisajia Village Sparks Sensation

A sensation gripped Amguri after a skeleton was discovered in Japisajia village under Amguri police station, Sivasagar district, on Friday. The deceased was identified as 54-year-old Puna Gogoi, who had reportedly been living alone in his house for several months.

Locals suspect Gogoi may have died nearly three months ago, as he had little to no interaction with his neighbors. The shocking discovery was made on Saturday morning with the help of the village headman and Village Defence Party (VDP), who found his skeletal remains lying inside the house.

Villagers revealed that Gogoi had been estranged from his family, with no contact with his wife, Labannya Gogoi, and two daughters for the last six months. His wife and daughters currently reside in a rented house in Amguri.

When approached, the wife and eldest daughter said they had no complaints or suspicions about the incident. However, the exact cause of Gogoi’s death remains unknown, and the police are yet to confirm whether it was natural or involved foul play.

The unusual circumstances of Gogoi’s isolated life and the long delay in discovering his death have left the local community shocked and unsettled, raising questions about social neglect and the plight of individuals living in seclusion.
