Rijiju, Himanta Slam Syeda Hameed’s Remarks on Bangladeshis in Assam

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju criticised former Planning Commission member Syeda Saiyidain Hameed for saying Bangladeshis have a right to live in Assam, calling her remarks “misleading in the name of humanity.” He accused her of supporting illegal immigrants at the cost of India’s sovereignty. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also condemned attempts by activists to portray eviction drives as a “humanitarian crisis,” calling it a planned move to weaken action against illegal encroachers.
