Centre Seeks Report After Train Kills Eight Elephants in Assam

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav said the Centre has sought a detailed report on the death of eight elephants after a train accident in Assam’s Hojai district. He said all states have been asked to closely monitor elephant movement along railway tracks.
The minister directed railway authorities to coordinate with state forest departments and stressed close communication between loco pilots, forest officials and district administrations.
Seven elephants were killed on the spot after being hit by the Rajdhani Express on Saturday, while an injured calf died during treatment on Sunday. Officials suspect heavy fog may have caused the accident.
