Meghalaya Illegal Coal Mine Blast Death Toll Rises to 25

The death toll in the illegal coal mine explosion in Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills district has risen to 25 as rescue operations continue amid fears of more trapped workers. The blast, triggered by dynamite at Mynsynhgat village, set the mine on fire.
Police have arrested two alleged mine operators, while the Meghalaya High Court has taken suo motu cognisance and ordered action against those responsible. Several injured workers have been shifted to hospitals, and search operations by NDRF teams are ongoing.
