Land Ownership Forms Distributed to Tea Garden Workers Across Assam

The Assam government on Monday distributed land ownership application forms to tea garden workers as part of its land patta initiative. In Jorhat district, 37,133 forms were distributed across 84 tea estates, while 981 forms were given to workers in six tea gardens in Darrang district.

The programme follows the state’s land patta drive launched by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, enabled by the Assam Fixation of Ceiling on Land Holding (Amendment) Bill, 2025. Similar form distribution programmes were also held in Morigaon district, with senior officials and public representatives attending events at various tea estates.
